2nd Corithians 12:7-10 NIV
9 But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. 10 That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.”
This verse means a lot to me and is a great reminder that I need every now and then. I mess up sometimes and fall short because I am not perfect, I’m just like anyone else. As I have grown it’s easier for me to own up when I make a mistake or done wrong and need to ask for forgiveness and guidance from God but opening up about by weaknesses/failures to others isn’t always as easy for me to do. As I read the verse it made me realize to not be ashamed of my mess ups and failures because sharing it with others is a perfect way to witness to others about an AMAZING God. Boasting on my weakness while spreading the word about Christ’s strength and power, it’s showing how His power rests on me and through me because I can not make it on my own. When I am weak He is strong and will help me get through! It makes it less about me and more about Him. Christ uses certain situations that was meant for my bad and turn it around for my good. He gets the glory out of it all while freeing us from the shame, guilt, sin, and blesses us with His grace, freedom, and love
When I was younger there was one time my mom knew I needed something and I didn’t have it but would not give it to me or bring it up because I simply didn’t ask. Being my timid self nervous of being a bothersome or hearing her say no resulted in me beating around the bush to lead up to asking what I originally needed in the first place. She said to me I knew you needed such thing but was waiting for you to open your mouth and ask for it. Right then she told/taught me never to be afraid to ask for anything because she was my mother, who loves me and if I needed something and she had to give she would.
That’s just like how God always knows what we are in need of and when we are in need of something but if we don’t ask He can’t give it. Closed mouths don’t get fed in the natural as well as in the spiritual. We can not receive if we do not ask. We must know we have the type of relationship with our Heavenly Father as our earthly parents/guardians, spouse, friend, business partner, or whoever you go to for help that we can come to God for anything! Because there are going to be times when we ask people to help us and they can’t, we are all human and sometimes fall short even when we try hard not to but God will never fail us!
Philippians 4:6 – Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.
We must take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented. -Elie Wiesel
When you sit quietly while going through a storm in your life its’s like you’re agreeing that you belong there but when you talk to God and open your mouth and praise Him during it you’re letting it be known that even through the difficult situation you don’t belong there and its not your final destination. That’s why it’s called going through you’re not meant to stay there!!
Love is an action word. We can say we love something or someone but we prove our love through actions. God proved His act of love by allowing His son to die for our sins on the cross even while knowing we would choose sin at times over Him. He loved us before we loved ourselves. He still proves this love daily by His new grace and mercies over us daily and being there always when others aren’t, He constantly pursues a relationship with us even when we do wrong. To show our act of love to God we can accept Him as our Lord & Savior, love and treat others as ourselves and walk in obedience with His word.
Have you ever went to sleep and woke up extremely hungry, “like you have not eaten in days”? This reminds me of the parable in the bible, Matthew 9:23-26, the child who they thought were dead but she was only sleeping. Everyone was convinced she was dead and God arrived too late to save her but then He spoke to the girl to arise and she did just that!! After awakening her He told the others to give her something to eat. Our spirits need to be fed just like our earthly bodies. When we do not feed our spirit with the word of God, prayer, and quiet time with God the Holy Spirit within us weakens and goes to sleep. But once you spend time with God, He awakens and restores the Holy Spirit within you. As you go through life you will hunger and thirst more for Christ and His word and just like in Matthew 5:6, “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.” So whatever is sleep inside of you maybe a certain goal, relationship with God, His Word, a dream, or a business idea perhaps, awaken it and start feeding it now!
Then he adds:
“Their sins and lawless acts
I will remember no more.”
18 And where these have been forgiven, sacrifice for sin is no longer necessary.
Have you ever thought about all the mistakes you have made and sins you have committed? I know I have and ever time I begin to reflect on how many times I let God down and chose other things over Him; and not once did He forsaken me. He always was there for me and never left my side. When I was broken and hurt from choosing people or things that wasn’t good for me Jesus welcomed me with open arms. Soon as I asked for forgiveness with a pure heart He would forgive me and bring it up no more. Like wow who does that, my God does!!!! That’s why I’m so glad God isn’t like man cause people will throw things in your face or like to remind you of your past mistakes but God will only remind you of your past to remind you of how far He has brought you and reassure you that He’s trustworthy to keep keeping you.
